In this chapter, students will be learning about the growing tensions between the colonies and Great Britain. We will explore several events and acts that led to the damaging of the relationship between the colonies and Great Britain. Specifically, we will learn about the French and Indian War, Proclamation of 1763, Quartering Act, Stamp Act, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, and Intolerable Acts. For each event or act, students will connect it with a parent (Great Britain)-child (colonies) metaphor. We will conclude the chapter by simulating King George III's tax collection policies in class and taking a closer look at the king's life. By the end of the chapter, all students should be able to answer the chapter focus question: What British actions angered the colonists in the 1700s?
